Assistant, Patient Care Support Services

Founded in 1975, Hospice by the Bay (HBTB) is California s first hospice and is the second in the nation. Our nonprofit currently serves children of all ages, adult patients and their families in the counties of Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Sonoma, and the cities of Napa, American Canyon and Vallejo. A pioneer in the field for more than 40 years, HBTB affiliated with UCSF in 2015.
Hospice by the Bay is currently seeking aweekend Patient Care Support Services Assistant (PCSS) to join our team in our Larkspur office. The successful candidate must be reliable, well organized, a team player, able to maintain patient records, support clinical operations, and provide administrative support at our Marin location. This position requires strong written and oral communications skills, an ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism, and general knowledge of medical terminology.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Provides administrative support to clinical staff; and/or Team Leaders and Clinical Managers.
  • Answering and directing phone calls.
  • Work with clinicians and outside vendors to coordinate the delivery and pick-up of durable medical equipment.
  • Coordinates collection and distribution of interoffice mail.
  • Medical records support of electronic, paper and input/output utilities (fax, scan, etc.)
  • Provide coverage of other patient care support functions and as requested including but not limited to, admissions audits and faxing signed prescriptions daily
Requirements include:
  • Minimum of one-year experience performing clerical/administrative tasks, preferably in a health care setting.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
